| How Does Recycling Furniture for Families Work? |
RFF collaborates with and has working agreements with several local social service agencies and churches who are working with families in need throughout McLean County. These qualifying families, all of whom are current clients of these organizations, fall into one or more of three categories:
- Persons fleeing domestic violence
- Persons coming out of homelessness
- Persons living with household incomes at or below the federal poverty guidelines
Individuals and families are served by RFF through a referral process. Referrals are obtained from the cooperating agency or church that they are working with. Following the referral, qualified clients are scheduled for an appointment with RFF. Clients are interviewed and then permitted to select the furniture and/or household goods that meet their needs. At the client's option, selected items are either delivered to or picked up by the client. All selected items are given to these families at no charge.
